Nam June Paik and Jud Yalkut began working together in the 1960’s and collaborated on several short pieces throughout their time together. Using 16mm video in both black&white, and color, footage was captured and electromagnetically distorted, then edited on film to create the end product. In this piece, Electronic Moon No. 2, the moon’s reflection in water is captured and enhanced with electromagnetic charges that create an effect that mirrors and compliments the rhythmic motion of the water. The accompanying sound is Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller, a classic sound in contrast to this avant-garde media of the time, creates an environment that feels familiar and comfortable in the face of this new and unusual art.
The origional work is approximately 16 minutes long and includes color, sillouhette images, households items and an appearance by Charlotte Moorman at the end.
