{"id":808,"date":"2022-11-03T19:02:54","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T03:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artelectronicmedia.com\/?post_type=artwork&#038;p=808"},"modified":"2022-11-03T19:17:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T03:17:04","slug":"noteboek","status":"publish","type":"artwork","link":"https:\/\/artelectronicmedia.com\/en\/artwork\/noteboek\/","title":{"rendered":"Noteboek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 244px; height: 200px; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/artelectronicmedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2A.jpg\" alt=\"Lohbeck YouTube screengrab\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dutch artist Evelien Lohbeck\u2019s multimedia artwork <em>noteboek<\/em> (2008), was selected as a Top Video in the Biennial of Creative Video, the showcase organized by the Guggenheim Museum and YouTube. <em>Noteboek<\/em> exemplifies what theorist Saskia Korsten refers to as \u2018reversed remediation\u2019. 2 This aesthetic strategy plays with Jay David Bolter and Richard Grusin\u2019s notion of \u2018remediation,\u2019 which serves a historical desire for immediacy. Countering Marshall McLuhan\u2019s fear of the narcotic state that the user of a medium can enter when becoming a closed system with the medium; reversed remediation offers a chance to wake up the viewer.\u00a0 According to Korsten, it creates a state of critical awareness about how media shape one\u2019s perception of the world. &#8220;(Art)works that employ reversed remediation destabilize remediation mechanisms, by making media visible instead of transparent.
