“In this installation of Expanded Cinema and real time processes one of
\nthe first video projectors was used in an artistic context, testifying
\nat the same time the early interest developed in invisible and
\nprocessual states of the body, in other words: in the image of the body
\n\u2039from the inside\u203a. The artist developed their projection technique for
\nDIAS [Destruction in Art Symposium], where they realized a section of
\ntheir series, \u2039Son et Lumi\u00e8re\u203a, for three aspects of nature: one for
\nthe elements\u2014Earth, Air, Fire, and Water\u2014one for Insects, Reptiles, and
\nWater creatures, and one for Bodily Fluids and Functions.
\nFor the presentation of the latter part in Liverpool in 1966, Boyle
\nrecounts this performance: \u00abIn the sperm sequence a couple wired up to
\nEDB (electro-cardiogram) and EEG (electroencephalogram) celebrated
\nintercours [hidden behind a screen], while the oscilloscopes of the ECG
\nand EEG were televised on closed circuit television and projected with
\nan Eidofor TV projector on to a large screen behind the couple. Thus,
\ntheir heartbeasts and brain waves were instantly revealed.” [2]<\/p>\n
